Why Would You Join The Tier 1 Node War Scene?

For some people, the idea of hitting 650 gear score to fight ex-siege guild players who got bored and stepped down isn’t fun, alternatively, Tier 1 offers a lot of freedom and removes the pressure of needing to progress gear to stay relevant.

For those people, T1 node wars are a great middle ground between fun and competitive play, but like most things, there is a META and what gear you equip can dramatically spike your power.

What Is Actually Capped in Tier 1?

When you are looking at the stats, the capped stat would be the cumulative total. This means that it takes into consideration every ability power (AP) buff you could have, e.g. food, elixirs/draughts, church buffs,  AP brackets etc. and the same goes for DP.

So, let’s look at an example.

  • If your sheet AP was 202, this would give you the 20 AP bracket bonus.
  • With a Cron meal on (+8 AP) this would give you the 230 AP for the Easy cap, even though your sheet AP only showed 202.

It’s worth noting that Evasion is capped although currently we do not know the exact value but from community tests, the outcome is that Evasion builds don’t work.

What Isn’t Capped?

To take full advantage of your desired cap this is very important advice to follow, and will help you maximize your build path.

Damage Reduction (DR)

Where the Defence Power (DP) is capped, your character will still receive its DR bonus based on what DP you are wearing. The simple takeaway for this is you want to reach 346 DP to get the 20% DR from gear. This is a huge survivability increase for all classes.

Human Damage

Human damage isn’t capped (and works out to be roughly 0.7 AP per Human Damage. This means that as long as you have good weapons and other gear that can compensate your sheet AP, you can in theory drop certain accessories (like your rings) to give you bonus Human Damage instead of AP.

Damage Multipliers

They work and are huge bonuses.  Taking this into account ensures that you are using Elixir rotations and Food to ensure that they are maxing out on Special Attack Damage modifiers (Down Attack etc.).

Another notable point here is that Green off hands with 2 Sockets combined with the ability to reform them that they can be made into Ultimate versions for a bonus 10% Special Attack Damage.

To reach maximum damage having one of these will increase your output a lot with 2 x Corrupted Magic Crystals gems.

Special Evasion

A key gem requirement would be including 2 x Special Evasion crystals in your chest piece. They are cheap and super effective and combined with Garmoth’s Heart on your off-hand your bonus Special Evasion will be noticeable.

This is also a key moment in deciding where your build will lead.

Health Points (HP)

The most obvious one, but also one of the most important – exceptionally useful stat. When making a build keep this in mind, if you have the option to run a Tungrad Belt or Valtarra Belt, unless the additional AP is going to help you get to the cap, then a Valtarra Belt may be better for the HP as an example.

Crystals & Items

What Are Good Crystals?

This is question splits the masses, but you should take into consideration what you usually play (PvP / Grind) with and how if min =/= maxing is worth the bonuses.

That being said if you wanted to go down the “AP Monkey” route, which for T1s means stacking Human Damage, then getting a full set of Red Battlefield crystals for everything except chest and off-hand. This is a horrible choice for non-capped PvP and grinding but for a T1 wars, this will give you a big power spike.

What Are The Best Off-hands?

As previously mentioned this boils down to two main options:

Option 1 – Krea or Rosar

As long as you are still hitting the AP bracket this could be your best in slot.

This will give you an extra 10% Special Attack Damage vs Kutum. They also have a higher amount of DP allowing for you to hit the 346 DP mark easier.

One last thing to note is they are much, much cheaper to Caphras for extra bonus stats.

Option 2 – Fiery Kutum

Kutum with Garmoths (Fiery Kutum) is arguably the better of the 2 options as you trade bonus damage % for Special Attack Evasion, HP, and Stamina.

Option 3 – Nouver

Please just don’t this is not an option in Tier 1.

What Are The Best Main-hands?

There isn’t much to say here, for PvP the one and only answer is..

Option 1 – Kzarka

The main reason is the +Species Damage (which includes Humans).

Blackstar is an alternative, but just not best in slot but best in swag factor.

What Are The Best Alchemy Stones?

When looking at gear guides people will 99% of the time use a Vell, but luckily now your planning on being a T1 hero, this may become useless for you.

You are much better getting a Sharp Protection (or better Resplendent) for the max HP, DR, and Resistances which are just going to be more valuable.

Notable Items You May Consider Including…

These are some BIS items for T1 capped node wars, you can try and get these in your gear as long as you are still hitting the AP and/or DP cap.

Manos Ruby Ring

Having Human Damage and HP means that you can sacrifice AP to use this ring, at TRI this ring has +15 Human Damage and 50 Accuracy

Chimera’s Pupil Gem

Flat +3 AP but gives you an extra 10% on Down Attack Damage, and you get these through the Calpheon questline, and it’s always good to have 2 of these equipped.

Kaia Necklace

Ok, for most people this will be a no go, because losing the AP to have this neck will be too much to compensate, but if you have PEN weapons (Caphras’d too!) and good accessories this could be an option for the extra 10% Back Attack damage.

  1. This… Chimera’s Pupil Gem Missions no longer give it as a reward D:

  2. Diabulus

    Chimera’s Pupil Gem
    How to get it?
    Quests now give Naru equipment

    • BDOHub Team

We believe they are still in the game, but the quest has now been moved to one of the side quests away from the main story. Not sure which one yet, but we will look into that point and update the guide if it’s applicable to the new T1 cap builds.

  3. Diabulus

Thanks, it would be very helpful!
